How to read these numbers
Figures are the market capitalisation of tokens in each CoinGecko category — the number of tokens in circulation multiplied by their price — retrieved automatically from CoinGecko. Each view shows when the source data was last updated. They show where tokenized value sits today; they are not a recommendation to buy or sell anything.
- Categories can overlap. Gold is part of commodities, and some tokens appear in more than one category, so the rows should not be added up. The “tokenized assets (all)” figure is CoinGecko’s own total.
- Stablecoins are shown for context only. They are payment tokens rather than investment assets, but they are the cash side of most tokenized transactions.
- Providers measure differently. Some data providers, such as RWA.xyz, separate assets issued natively on-chain (“distributed”) from tokens that mirror records kept elsewhere (“represented”). Totals from different sources are therefore not directly comparable — our RWA tokenization guide quotes RWA.xyz figures for that reason.
- One issuer can dominate a category. Tokenized private credit, for example, is currently led by a single large issuer, so changes in that category often reflect one programme rather than the whole market.
What the data tells builders
The largest categories — Treasuries, money market funds, credit and gold — share regular valuation, clear legal structures and defined redemption. Those are the same qualities that make a token collateral-ready, and they are the starting point for every platform we design.
RWA market data, answered
How big is the tokenized real-world asset market?
It depends on the definition. Excluding stablecoins, CoinGecko’s tokenized-asset category and RWA.xyz’s distributed-asset measure both put it in the tens of billions of US dollars in 2026, led by tokenized Treasury products, private credit and gold.
How often is the tracker updated?
Figures are retrieved automatically from CoinGecko. Each view shows when the source data was last updated and when Coretos retrieved it. If the data cannot be retrieved, the page says so instead of showing old numbers.
Why do different sources show different totals?
They classify tokens differently, include or exclude represented assets and stablecoins, and count supply on different networks. Always compare figures from the same source and date.
